The aim of this resource is encourage students to extend their vocabulary. I use these once a week in my class. I use it as a station when station teaching for Guided Reading. My students have so much fun. I find it doubles as a resource to encourage fair play and teamwork. Students simply pick a card and ‘Name 5’ things related to the given category. There are 60 flashcards included. 

This resource can be used in so many ways including;

• ask students individually
• ask groups to work together to ‘Name 5’
• students ask each other
• as a lesson transition
• as a station for station teaching

This resource can also be extended and adapted to suit your class. Here are some ideas:

• assign a time limit
• once 5 have be named, ask for 5 more
• assign points for unique answers if playing in groups
