This is a weeks plan based on writing a persuasive letter. First of all, it involves teaching children the different persuasive tricks such as flattery, rhetorical questions, repetition, exaggeration etc. These lessons also involve children orally trying to persuade each other, or their class teacher by using the above techniques. Children enjoyed persuading alot.
These lessons also touch on letter writing (formal) and ensure that children use the correct structure and tone depending on who they are writing to. We happened to be learning about Ancient Greece at the time, so the letter in which is used as a model, is connected to Ancient Greece.
INCLUDED:
*5 day detailed lesson plan
*Colourful, detailed Notebook file.
*Sample persuasive letter
*Sample persuasive letter for lower ability groups
*2 scaffolding resources for lower ability children
*Letter template for planning
*Simple presentation to hone in on the features
*Success criteria for children to assess their own work
