Would You Rather? - Maths Talk Time
The aim of this resource is to encourage students to use the maths language that they know, extend on their current maths vocabulary, find mathematical links in the world around them and open up mathematical discussions in the class.
Simply ask the pupils which of two options they would rather. Questions are varied in the mathematical skill necessary to solve them.
My students love this resource because they can all find an answer.
I believe it also encourages the students to listen to each other as we often found that there is always one student who thinks way outside the box and comes up with an answer or a reason that none of us thought of ... including me!
