I usually have a lot of classroom behaviour and management issues to go through with my new class every year. I work very hard on the golden rules for the first few weeks, ensuring children know exactly what is expected.Here is my timetable for the first 2 days, minute by minute.

This might give new or established teachers some ideas on what to cover and how much to cover on the first few days. You will get a good indication of where the children are at from a numeracy and literacy side by working directly with free exploration. I do not begin Child-led play until a few weeks in when my weekly plans and thematic planning are set up.
