What is a family structure? What is a family? This is a direct instruction lesson for family diversity within the humanities and social sciences subject but you can also use this as part of your health curriculum. It is directed towards Year One students. This lesson meets the Western Australian (and Australian) curriculum outcomes for the topic of families. All family structures are important and valuable. A variety of cultures are displayed and a variety of relationship types. Learning about family structures can be confusing for students, especially when there are so many alternative structures. This lesson discusses the structures in straight forward terms and uses pictures to demonstrate.
