This is a great lesson to do along with any health and safety unit or vehicle/transport unit (so many different forms of transport are shown!). It is also a great lesson to teach prior to all holidays. Go over the slide show as revision too. Another idea is to show one slide and ask students to generate a persuasive text writing piece on what is shown.
road-safety-lesson includes the following:
- 99 slides in total (includes cover pages)
- definition of a pedestrian
- crosswalk safety, signs and more
- road safety signs
- how to cross a road safely
- vehicles that may be on a road
- other important tips
- passenger safety tips
- think, pair, share activity
- checking for understanding (looking at pictures and deciding if they are safe and why)
- well-scripted and easy to read as it is (you can certainly add your own comments though)
- go through the slide show first as some word boxes and arrows may appear when you do a mouse click or arrow/space bar click
- understanding and making way for others to cross a road safely (due to physical difficulties)
- includes photographs and clipart
- follow-up activity suggestions in final slide
Kind regards! Stay safe.
