SPHE - Bullying Scenarios Discussion Cards
These cards relate to the strand Myself and others under the My friends and other people stand unit. I used these cards alongside a SPHE lesson where we were talking about bullying behaviour. These cards can be used after discussing 'what to do if you are being bullied or witness bullying' with the pupils.
I give out one card to a group of 3/4 pupils. They have to read the card and talk about what they would do in that situation. They come up with ideas about how best to respond in that situation. Each group of pupils then read the scenario out loud for the class and share their ideas about how they would react or what they would do.

There are so many bullying scenario cards and resources available online but I found they were sometimes far fetched or too abstract for my pupils and so I created my own. In my experience, the bullying scenarios described on my own cards are much more realistic and more likely to occur in primary schools in Ireland today.
The pupils really engaged in this activity and it was a great way to 'put into practice' the ways pupils could address and stamp out bullying in their school.
