Behaviour Reflection Sheet
For children with mild, moderate and severe challenging behaviour. This tool is designed to work as a therapeutic, reflection exercise between the child and a trusted adult (i.e. Class Teacher, Support Teacher, SNA). It is an activity to be completed with the child after the behaviour incident has occurred and when the child feels willing and comfortable to engage with the adult for the exercise. This is a brilliant tool to help adults working with a child engaging in very challenging behaviours establish some key emotions/reasons why the child may be choosing to act in this way. It also provides children with more detailed language around emotions (see prompt questions), which will ultimately enable children use this language when feeling dysregulated. This has proven to be an invaluable tool in my own teaching work. It has given me an insight into the way the child sees and understands things from their point of view and this has then allowed me to work directly on these issues during support time with the child/whole class level.
