I use this simple resource alongside teaching the Zones of Regulation to support my children’s understanding of emotions and how they can self-regulate to stay on green (happy/content/focused). I have also used this as a home resource for children to use when they arrive home from school to show parents how they are feeling and then list activities they can do to stay on greem. Many children have outbursts when they get home from school and this resource is intended to support them to identify their feelings and proactively regulate to lessen these outbursts. It becomes part of the unwinding home from school routine. This resource includes and example filled in, stars to use to visually signify the mood or feeling of the child and a blank template for you to fill in with your child to say how they feel when blue, green, yellow and red and then what they can do to make them feel the same or better to remian on happy, content/green. Simply print, laminate and add velcro to use as an interactive displayed resource in school or at home.
