Description
Word families are groups of words that have a common feature or pattern – they have some of the same combinations of letters in them and a similar sound. For example, at, cat, hat, and fat are a family of words with the “at” sound and letter combination in common.
I created this activity sheet to use during literacy stations.
1) The children write in four words with the word family ending -at e.g. cat mat hat sat
2) Then they draw the four pictures
3) Lastly they write a sentences with the words
The PDF’s area in a variety of colours. If you laminate them for in class use, the children can use whiteboard markers on them and they can be wiped clean after use.
I have been attaching these as part of remote learning to support the learning rhyming/ word families. See my Roll and Read Word Family Mats to extend learning in a fun and motivating way.
