This is a fully resourced, step-by-step rhyming multisensory story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’
It is aimed at SEN, ASD, Complex Needs, SPD, PMLD and Learning Needs individuals aged 3-19 and is also suitable for junior and senior infants.
Sensory stories immerse the listener by telling a story using words and sensory stimuli (story props). The props are all low budget items that can be found around the home and classroom and will motivate and engage learners helping them to access literacy in a fun and meaningful way.
Listening to rhyme and rhythm supports memory and aids learning playing a crucial role in language development, the learning of concepts, communication and early literacy skills such as listening and attention skills, anticipation, turn-taking and making choices.
The stories are adapted to meet a range of abilities and needs from curious pre-school children to teenagers with complex needs. They can be used in mainstream and SEN schools as the combination of sensory stimuli, rhyme and the repetitive structure of the stories forms an excellent base on which to scaffold learning. The stories can also be used in care home settings as a tool to inform on care needs.
