Set of 17 cards.
Children are asked to recognise the initial sound of each picture and place it underneath. When all pictures initial sounds are recognised, a word will be formed e.g.
P – pan
A – apple
N – nose
The children can then use their blending skills to sound out the word or recognise the sight word.
The images shown also test the children’s vocabulary and give rise to oral language conversation e.g. What is an envelope used for?
This activity can be laminated and letters written on the cards and wiped or items such as foam or magnetic letters could be used!
