This is a ready-to-teach Halloween themed creative writing lesson. It is based on the idea of staying overnight in a Haunted House. The PowerPoint activates vocabulary by generating discussion around the typical activities and traditions of Halloween. There is then some revision of adjectives and adverbs and how they improve writing, before the reveal of the exciting writing set-up – that you and your friends are going to stay overnight in a Haunted House. Images and audio reveal the story stimulus and students are then given their writing task and instructions. This is all covered in the PowerPoint, so the teacher only needs to go through the slides to set up this engaging and creative task.
This resource includes a clear lesson plan with overall objectives and aims, a step-by-step PowerPoint and a writing template with a border for final drafts of stories.
