Description

This digital learning activity comprises a recount, a special kind of recount – a biography of William Dargan. It integrates with Irish history and Engineering Week.  It includes links to Seesaw™ and Google Slides™ as well as a pdf. The comprehension strategies included are: inferring, synthesising, determining importance, retrieving information and synthesis.

In the history scheme it can be classified as Story, Local History, Continuity and Change Over Time and The Industrial in Ireland. For local history, William Dargan has special links to Carlow and Laois – someone well worth celebrating.

(For your information – Dargan was almost singlehandedly responsible for building Ireland’s railways, canals and Belfast Port. And he initiated a tourist industry for Bray)
