Description
Board game- children select their chosen counters. Roll the dice, move along the game. Lower ability could be just naming the items as they move. To uplevel they can use a question that you are working on, An maith leat clár spoirt? Cad atá ar an teilifis? Another player answers. I left it fairly simple as it allows you to adapt to suit any class. I have used these for independent stations In 4th/5th class and teacher led junior infants to begin with. There are two different board games included.
Loop cards- a child receives one card each. They read their sentence out loud and the person with the corresponding item says ” Tá ____ agam, An Bhfuil…. ”
Flash cards. I Tend to use these as memory games or cluiche Kim. I have printed two sets of these onto card and laminated. The children place all cards face down, they turn over two at a time, searching for a pair! For juniors I only use a small number of cards and then add in another pair after they are confident with those words.
Cluiche Kim- chose a few cards from the set of flash cards, four to start. Children try remember the cards, they close their eyes and then the teacher or chosen child removes one… Cad a thóg mé? Children try work out the missing card. Add more cards to increase difficulty.
Worksheets included- read and draw the program on tv, answer the questions and draw, following written instructions (Infants- listen to instructions from their teacher) colour the items the correct colour.
* I have included some circus animals as it ties in with Bua na Cainte program.
