This is a wonderful product and definitely worth the buy. I personally have used this book with a young child who lost his father. At first I was unsure how to approach this situation but after seeing Alan's Memory book, I said I would get it and try it. When I say it was a life saver I mean it. Not only did it help me but also the child. It helped me phrase and explain the feelings and process of losing a loved one while helping the child to understand what they were feeling.. Alan's book allowed me to talk to the child on the right level of personal while also making sure I stayed on the professional side too. I can not recommend this book enough!

My Memory Book is a booklet that can be used when a child returns to school after suffering a loss. It is a guide to help children through grieving and understanding their emotions around death.
There are five parts to this booklet:
1. What is grief?
2. Thoughts
3. Emotions
4. Memories
5. Self-Care
It can be so hard for a child to come back to school and if this booklet can help them in any way, it's definitely worth it.
DISCLAIMER: I am in no way an expert on grief or bereavement. I created this booklet from personal experiences, which I adapted to suit younger children, conversations with teachers and my own personal research. Please discuss with school principals before distributing this booklet as there may already be a procedure in place for this matter. It is also important that you contact parents/guardians of the child for their consent before giving out the booklet. They may wish to review it first, complete it with their child or ask to modify language used.
