Where's the maths? - Maths Talk Time
The aim of this resource is to encourage students to use the maths language that they know, extend on their current maths vocabulary, find mathematical links in the world around them and open up mathematical discussions in the class.
Simply ask the pupils to spot where they see maths in the photos. There are multiple answers to suit a range of abilities. Your students could spot the time on a clock, the shape of an object, a type of line or simply count the number of a specific object in the photo.
My students love this resource because they can all find an answer.
I believe it also encourages the students to listen to each other as we often found that there is always one student who thinks way outside the box and comes up with an answer that none of us thought of ... including me!
