St Patrick's Day Walking Debate
This PowerPoint contains 10 statements which will encourage and promote discussion and debate relating to Seachtain na Gaeilge and St Patricks day. They can be used in the following ways
- Walking debate: Stick Agree, Disagree and Not Sure signs to 3 different walls in the classroom. Display a motion on the board and ask pupils to move to the sign that corresponds with their opinions. They then explain their position and other pupils can change position based on the arguments they hear
- Pupils work in pairs to list as many arguments as possible supporting or opposing a statement displayed on the board
- Pupils prepare a one minute speech supporting or opposing a statement displayed on the board
- Select a statement, divide the class in two and have a debate with one half proposing and the other opposing the statement displayed on the board
