Sample Autism/ Special/ ASD Class Timetable and Guidance
A 10 page document with guidance on how to create a timetable for the teacher and SNAs in a special school/ special class or autism class attached to a mainstream primary school. Includes a sample timetable for an autism class in 2 different formats: one showing what each staff member does throughout the day, and another from the perspective of each child to show how their day is structured.

There are hyperlinks throughout the document with links to useful resources and websites which are referenced. There is also a sections with some suggestions for activities that the SNAs can undertake with the children.
Note: The Primary Curriculum Framework was released in 2023 and it sets out suggested revised time allocations for when the new curriculum is implemented in full. At present, the subject specifications for Wellbeing, Science, Technology and Engineering, Arts Education, and Social and Environmental Education are still in draft format. These specifications are not being rolled out during the 2024/2025 school year and hence, the new time allocations are not in place yet. Therefore, the sample timetables above are based on the existing time allocations and not those suggested in the PCF. Click here to see the current subject time allocations from the Department are.
