I have created these guided reading prompts which focus on most if not all of the key comprehension strategies we want children engaging in in their reading, to use in my classroom as I want to start encouraging more book talk amongst the children after Easter! I will introduce them one by one and practice one every day!

This is something we do all the time through literature circles or just in our general book talk but I wanted them all in one place and colourful (of course)😂! I usually have these on an anchor chart scribbled down but thought I should tidy it up a little! I used the app Canva to make it nicer and to tidy it up and it’s excellent for doing just that!

My groups are in coloured circles at the moment so I wanted a colour for all my groups too so in some lessons I can say, okay the red group you’re going to focus on the red prompts in your book club, the oranges, etc! 😃 Then change it up for groups to do other coloured prompts on other days! My class are really good at working on all of these prompts as I’ve been doing them with them in our guided reading so I’m confident they can use this display now!! If your class haven’t, you could use one per day on a PowerPoint to introduce it in your reading workshop until you have them all covered!
