Art Appreciation Lesson Senior Classes 'Starry Night'
This lesson is based on 'Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gogh for senior classes (for 5th/6th class) but easily adapted for 3rd/4th also. With time constrains and a jam-packed curriculum there may be times that a full hour long art lesson may not be possible and this lesson would be ideal for this situation. Additionally it encourages children to focus on the looking and responding strand of Visual Art. Some guidance is given in familiarizing children with terminology and modelling responses. Group work is an integral part of this lesson and it encourages children to use their imagination in exploring the painting. A background to the artist PowerPoint is included and an activity/question sheet for the children to direct their thinking.
