Percentages pack
I made this pack to use with my 5th and 6th class. It includes display posters about getting a percentage of a number, conversion chart of percentages/fractions/decimals and some worksheets to practise getting a percentage of a number.
I usually like to give the class both ways to get a percentage of a number (fraction way and decimal way) so I have one worksheet on fraction method, one on decimal method and then an orienteering activity where they can use their preferred method for each question.
Worksheets:
- Getting a percentage of an amount (fraction method)- using a pencil and paper clip as a spinner, land on a sum and complete it with your partner. Change percentage to a fraction and divide by bottom, multiply by top
- Getting a percentage of an amount (decimal method) - Board game. Roll the dice and complete the questions. Change percentage to a decimal and multiply by the amount
- Orienteering game with 8 question cards (Each group starts at a different card. They complete the question and find the answer to it on another card, then complete the next question on that new card. They will finish back at the card they started from)- Children have choice of which method they want to use after practising both ways
