Aimsir Chaite - Drill and Practice of Most Common + Useful Verbs
This vocabulary pack teaches and revises a wide selection of past tense verbs (both regular and irregular), through repetition and in class pair work and peer assessment. It teaches the verbs that occur frequently in reading activities and also the verbs needed to write stories of increasing complexity. This simple vocabulary pack has been a key part of my Irish teaching in the senior classes over the last few years.
This word mat can be used in two ways
- As a reference for pupils when independently writing sentences/ stories
- Self-assessment: Pupils try to beat their score of correctly recalled verbs each day and record their progress on graphs.

We accept returns
This is a fun and engaging way to revise common Irish verbs and their meanings. This complete pack includes
- a revision sheet of past tense verbs and their translations
- a quiz sheet which pupils use each day to test their recall of the verbs and their meanings
- a link to a precision teaching graph
Each day pupils will be assessed by their partner. They will read and translate as many verbs on the quiz sheet as possible, recording their score on the graph and setting a goal for the next day. The completed graphs can be kept in assessment folders as evidence of self-assessment. The verb sheets are also a useful resource for children to have to hand when writing sentences, essays etc.
