This resource includes drama strands covered, detailed step-by-step lesson plans, PowerPoint presentation with music audio file, animal fact files, Pelmanism printable game (in English and Irish) and suggestions for cross-curriculum extension activities.
Drama techniques used include warm-up games, mime, role play, hot seating, teacher in role, still images.
In lesson one, your students use the PowerPoint as a stimulus to discuss the woodland animals of Ireland. They discuss what they know about the animals and hibernation and play a Pelmanism card game matching pictures to words (in English or Irish). Students use music and mime to explore animal characters.
In lesson two, they re-cap, then develop the story further using hot seating, teacher in role questioning and role play.
