This PowerPoint lesson encourages students to learn the letter names, the sounds they make as well as identifying the initial sound of spoken words.
Includes:
- WALT - We are learning to (this slide gives the lesson objectives)
- Letter slides - random order of a-z - ask students to say the names of the letters (alternatively ask for both the name and sound)
- Picture slides - phonological awareness (initial sounds) - ask students to say the picture name (e.g. apple) and say the first/initial sound they hear (e.g. /a/). This section includes a-z sounds and all short sounds are included (e.g. no /a/ for a long /air - in aeroplane!)
