Debating - 1 week of lesson plans senior classes
This excellent week (5 lesson plans) provides a step- by - step example and framework for preparing for a whole class debate. Lessons progress from Persuasive Language through to the steps involved in researching and writing a debate to the in-class hosting of a debate between teams. The topic of Space exploration is used but any topic could be used. PowerPoint that can be used over the week can be used to reinforce and outline many key elements to children. Links also included. Interactive lessons including group work, various assessment methods used and differentiation. Strands of Oral, Writing and Reading included. This lesson is suitable for 4th - 6th class. Was hugely successful in classroom with children eager to explore more in the area of persuasion.
