This is the first of two place value bundles. There are resources to begin introducing the topic to any class. The place value display which includes digits 0-9 and signs for units, tens, hundreds and thousands can be used when teaching place value to the class as a whole. Teacher might use this to ask students to place a number from 1-9999 up on the board under the correct headings. Questions can then be asked surrounding this, including what is ten more, ten less, hundred more, hundred less.

There is a smaller version of this for students to use as an independent task. This independent task includes a random selection of numbers from 10-9999. Students can choose a card with a number and place the digits in the correct place under the thousands, hundreds, tens and units.

Another activity included is a matching place value activity. For example one card might say '1 hundred, 2 tens, 3 units' and students will match it to the '123' card.

To help students with the place value strand unit, there is also a hundred square included in this package.
