This resource contains 32 pages of checklist sheets using Fry's Phrases.

There are ten phrases on each page with the days of the week marked alongside each one -Monday to Thursday.

These are perfect for Senior Infants or 1st Class. They could be used for homework, daily practice, revision or in SET if additional practice is needed for reading.

The idea with these checklist sheets is that a child practices them each day, if the phrase is known a tick is placed in the box, if they needed some assistance with it an 0 is placed in the box and if not known at all an x is placed in the box for the corresponding day. The idea is that you will then be able to see the phrases and areas that children need more practice and work on too.

I personally have used these sheets for homework with Senior Infants. I have found them fantastic for aiding reading and writing through the practice of common phrases they see in their books and stories. It also gives them more confidence in their reading skills too.

These would also be very useful for a child at any age who is experiencing difficulties with reading and could be used as a daily practice routine to build upon their vocabulary and phrases and thus gain confidence and enjoyment in their reading skills. Phrases that are causing difficulty could then be worked on each week.

A display pack of Fry's Phrases will be available soon and could be used alongside these sheets in the classroom to practice the phrases together each day or in literacy stations.
