There is a list for each of these themes:

    Ar Scoil
    Bia

  • A Letter to our COVID Heroes- Litir chuig ár laochra

** Please leave a review if you download this FREE resource**
    Hello,
Here is a Roll and Write work pack around letter and postcard writing. It asks the children to roll a dice and choose a word/phrase from three categories and use those to make sentences. Older or more confident children will be able to turn these into a letter/postcard they could send to honour our COVID heroes!
A template is included for both a letter and a postcard. If this concept is tricky I would encourage you to use this to write to neighbours, friends or grandparents. There is some general language that can be used and a page is dedicated to the various greetings used to begin and end a letter as Gaeilge.
Suggested people to write to include nurses, post people, shop workers, doctors, parents and teachers! There are two levels for the dice activity- one for more capable writers with tricky new COVID related vocabulary (like remote working and community spirit).
If you use this please tag me in, or send me, your photos on Facebook or Instagram- I love to see everyone's creative and different approaches :).

  • Adjectives Scoot in Irish. Gaeilge.

A scoot game that can be played, individually, in pairs or in groups. I'm planning to use this as a seat or word work activity for a group during guided reading as Gaeilge.

There are 24 cards, each with a statement or sentence missing an adjective. The children must choose the best answer from the multiple choice options and record this on their recording sheet. They can use a dictionary for reference, or my Aidiachtai glance sheet that is also available on my mash store!

An answer sheet is enclosed so children can self assess at the end if you want this to be a totally independent task.

  • Aidiacht glance sheet

A double sided reference sheet for children to use when writing Gaeilge stories, during oral language games etc.

I've printed these back to back on card as there is space for the children to write in new adjectives they discover when reading.

A great for warm up activity I like to do is practicing sentence structure by shouting out silly sentences- the children have to speed read and skimming and scanning for new adjectives etc.
