  • 100 Fine Motor Skills Activities Planning Document ASD

100 fine motor skills (FMS) activity ideas broken up into days of the week under categories: dough, cutting, pincer/squeezing, Art and miscellaneous.
A description of FMS skills that children need to develop and templates for mentioned cutting skills are also included.
How I use this planning template:
I print off the 5 planning sheets and highlight the activities I do each month (orange for Autumn term, green for Spring and yellow for Summer). This means that children may do each activity a maximum of 2 times throughout the year, or each activity can be slightly adapted using same skills but different objects in addition to natural fine motor skills that children do throughout the day.
Simply add to your planning file/cúntas míosúil each month/term.

  • 72 Mini Mind and Movement break cards

Mini Mind and Movement Break Cards
This is a set of 72 break cards to support children when they need a physical or mental break from work.
Sometimes in my class, children can reach a level of frustration when they are doing work. A workload demand is often put on children and this can cause them to lose concentration and focus because and if they continue on this path this can sometimes lead to a display of undesirable behaviours. To alleviate these frustrations we often prompt children to take a much needed distraction break and these cards support these such breaks. There are 36 cards for movement breaks and then a further 36 cards for mind breaks. Giving children this freer form of thinking and action time allows them to be more productive in their more focused tasks. In class children simply set a 1 minute timer and complete the short mini break. (If they feel they need more than his then obviously they can choose different cards or spend a longer period of time on each one.)

  • ABC sheet (1 page)

    ABC chart (1 page)
1 page chart which includes Setting events, Antecedents, Behaviours, Consequences, Strategies used to support the child, Outcomes, Severity and Injuries.

Template for an ABC chart that we use in our ASD class. Simply print and make booklets for each child and highlight the areas which apply to each childs' behaviour. This can be easily edited to suit the behaviours of your children.

I have also used these in mainstream class and resource teaching to support behaviour plans and to show the behaviours which warrant extra support for a child (SNA access).

  • ASD 52 x Conflict Resolution Oral Language/ S&L/ Social groups/skills cards

A set of 52 conflict resolution problem ideas cards. Ask children to consider what they would do in these situations. How could they react/solve problems?
I use these to lead lessons in conflict resolution and social skills training in my ASD class. We also encourage children to work in pairs to ask questions and practise listening to one anothers answers.
Some problems are specific to the situations our children come across in our school but most I feel are generic situations that most children face in school at home.

  • ASD feelings/emotions recognition chart(Inside out)

This is a lovely worksheet and visual aid to support children as they learn to recognise their own emotions and come up with ways to deal with them. I use this with my class to discuss emotions and what each feeling means to them individually (eg. bubbling tummy, getting hotter, sweating, biting nails, etc). I then work with children to discover ways to help them to calm or change from one emotion to another (eg. deep breaths, tense and release, exercises, colouring, reading, etc)I usually laminate this sheet and Children can display it at their table and it leads to our emotions display in class also where children can show how they are feeling throughout the day.
