Ever wondered how you could make punctuation a bit more fun and inviting to teach or revise in the classroom? Well here's how! I created these iMessage punctuation cards and accompanying PowerPoint presentation which uses conversations between some of our favourite fairytale characters. These include the likes of Hansel and Gretel, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Beauty and the Beast to name but a few.

I have broken the resource into six categories; capital letters, full stops, commas, question marks, explanation marks and speech marks. Each category has three iMessages in which the children must find the mistakes related that category e.g. insert the full stops where they should go.

The cards can be printed and cut out for the children to write on, or, they can be laminated so that they can be reused and the children can write on them using a whiteboard marker. Also if you can't be bothered with all the printing and laminating (I totally get it), you can simply use the PowerPoint version to display the iMessage on the interactive whiteboard for the children. Or even better why not use both! First let the children do them on their own using a laminated version with a whiteboard marker and then display them on the interactive whiteboard and have a classroom discussion regarding the answers.

Having tried and tested these on placement myself I can honestly say they go down a treat. They can be used for so many different things in the classroom too. For example you could use them as early finisher work, a transition activity between lessons, to revise punctuation before beginning writing, as an assessment tool for punctuation or they could be used in isolation when teaching each specific area of punctuation. Also, they would be very handy to have as a quick activity while subbing.
