This breaks down the features and elements that make an adventure story and prompt children to think about stories and movies and make text to text and text to world connections.
These task cards are a great way to explore the adventure story writing. Quick fire activities build a sense of achievement as children work their way through up to 24 cards. An answer and guide key is provided.
I have found this to be helpful with reluctant writers and ESL children. I also have used tablets to record children's ideas and thoughts and adult or peer scribes in order to promote early writing skills and to remove the barrier of pen on paper to begin with. I have used them to help build the skills to give confidence to children's writing.
Children will need some exposure to adventure story writing or as movies in order to be able to approach this topic with experience and confidence.
There is a set of colorful 24 pack task cards. In my classroom usage have laminated these to make them last but its up to you how you present them.
Another way to use them would be to do it as a whole class test and present the children with the answer sheet and ask them to answer each question in turn. This is great for gap analysis work.
There is a record sheet to help students track their progress and are great for study or Literacy areas / centres / small group work with your class. It’s also been a great way to inspire trainee teachers if they are looking for a quick activity and ask for an idea to teach this topic in grammar.
All art work is original.
This Task Card pack includes:
24 task cards - colour
Student record sheet
