How I Have Used It:
I have used this in class as an piece of writing that can be assessed.
End of term writing.
Work for supply/cover/substitute teacher when I was off.
I have used it for two job interviews. (I was successful in both.)

Children have loved the story of the Dream Giver and I have always got excellent narrative writing back from the children. You may need to change or adapt this slightly to suit the ability of your class. I have used this in year 5/6 in the UK where they are preparing for the state exams and they are extremely familiar with the grammatically terms that are used.
