This is an introduction to 32 of the animals listed on the International Union on Convention of Nature's (IUCN) Red List - a list of endangered animals and plants. The list is organised accorded to extinction level and the PowerPoint provides examples of animals from Near-Threatened, Vulnerable, Endangered, Critically Endangered and Extinct in the Wild categories.
The PowerPoint show could be used as a stimulus for morning bell-work - writing about the animal, drawing the animal, identifying why the animal is endangered, planning how we could protect the animal, researching what conservation efforts are being taken to protect the animal etc. The majority of the animals in the PowerPoint are found in Dublin Zoo and Dublin Zoo is involved in conservation efforts for these animals (either through funding or breeding programmes.)
The PowerPoint could also be used as an SESE lesson linking in with the Science and Geography curriculum.
