For anyone that may not have played interactive POP before here is how it could be played.

The children take it in turns to come up to the board and choose a popcorn. It's an interactive PowerPoint so once they tap the popcorn it will reveal a word. If you don't have an interactive whiteboard, you can click the popcorn piece that they choose from your laptop instead.

Once the word is revealed, the child must say the word. Depending on your class level, you can decide what objectives you would like from this game. For example, younger classes might just read the word or they could read the word and clap the syllables. The older classes might read the word and put it into a sentence. It's really up to you what you want the children to do once they reveal the word but the main aim is that they read it.

Once they do, they get a point for their team (you can do girls vs boys, table by table, etc.) The word POP is behind some of the pieces. If they find this, they miss a turn. You can choose what POP means for your class. I played the English sight word version of POP in an SEN setting and I knew the children were really lacking in confidence with their sight words so I said that POP meant they got a free point. The main aim is that the children enjoy it and learn/practise their words in the process. There is no right or wrong way to play. :)

Hi Aisling, thank you very much. Of course! I'm sure there are lots of different ways to play but this is the way I do it.
