A sheet of tree-themed haiku writing frames (3), starter lines (3), information, guidance, and warm-up tips. A handy resource for teachers and parents, at school or home, to support this fun and fascinating form of poetry. Children welcome the short, simple form of the poem, and the fun of counting the 17 requisite syllables. As clarified on the sheet, this 3-line poem format has 5 syllables for the 1st and last line, and 7 for the middle one. All children are familiar with trees, but each writer will have their own thoughts, experiences and observations to bring to their poem. Trees are forever changing, marking the seasons, reflecting the weather, and bringing us shade, shelter, picturesque beauty and year-round inspiration; they also house wildlife creatures and support the soil and the atmosphere. They're wonderful plants in multiple ways - yet people are chopping them down around the world. Your children will relish the challenge of selecting their concept or message and conveying it through the 17 syllables.
