Why this World Cup is Controversial.

Starting with the selection as host nation, Qatar raised eyebrows as there are concerns about human rights abuses in building the infrastructure to host the World Cup. Also, Qatar is not a soccer powerhouse having never fielded a World Cup team in the 21 previous tournaments. Another issue is the climate, typically the World Cup is played in the summer however, Qatar, being a desert nation, has an average high temperature of a humid 108 degrees Fahrenheit in July. As a result, FIFA moved the tournament schedule to the late fall when the average high in Qatar is 85 degrees.
