Safety awareness is an on going challenge at our house. Our son has just learned to ride his bike so these could not have come at a better time.
We have read these daily for the past 10 days. He engages very well with the pictures and text.
He adores the quizzes at the end of each story. We can include his siblings by making the quiz into a game with buzzer sound effects etc.. which keeps him interested.
The quiz also helps us test his comprehension of the safety rules and to be honest, highlights some language areas we need to work on more.
We have noticed a huge difference in road crossing over the past week. I no longer have to remind him constantly to hold my hand, he just reaches for it (or his sister's buggy handles).
He has told a few grown ups off for not wearing helmets too
5 star resource! Well done!

à Safety when riding my bike or scooter.
For some of my children I begin by using only the first page of each story set and we read this repetitively so that children begin to garner an understanding of each scenario.
To develop children’s understanding of the safety situations I go through the second page and ask the questions/read the statements to the children.
They can answer in their own words or point to the happy (positive answer) green face or the sad (negative answer) red face, or give thumbs up/down, whichever option they prefer. This allows me to assess their understanding of the stories. We also use these as preparation for class walks, trips and social life skills in our community.
Parents can also use these at home to reinforce the safety ideas and scenarios.
