This unit includes 10 lessons plans, resources and 2 fully interactive PowerPoints to teach 4th Class children all about instruction and explanation texts. Children will begin by working in small groups to identify the main features of each type of text before applying their knowledge to their own written work. They will enjoy writing instructions for different technological devices such as: escalators, elevators and mobile phones in addition to using the internet to research and explain a range of unusual gadgets! To end and consolidate their learning during Week 2, children will have the opportunity to invent their own mode of transport which they will then plan and create a detailed guide for. This guide will include features of both explanation and instruction texts.
